Cameron Diaz at the premiere of What To Expect When You’re Expecting in Hollywood (5/14)
In a new interview, Cameron Diaz admits that she’s actually looking forward to turning 40. Cameron Diaz. With that face. Looking forward to getting older. From Showbiz Spy:
“I’m so, so excited about turning 40,” says Cameron who will celebrate her landmark birthday on August 30. “When I was in my twenties I couldn’t wait to get to my thirties, now at the end of my thirties, I’m so looking forward to my forties. I love getting older.”
OK, I just want to be clear: Cameron Diaz is gracefully accepting the inevitable fact that her career as a leading lady in commercially successful movies will end in the very near future? Because that’s what “getting older” means as a woman in Hollywood. Sure, Cameron will still get roles as the sassy next door neighbor or the under-sexed cougar boss on some FX sitcom, but she didn’t give up her career as a dominatrix just to play second fiddle to some fresh-faced newcomer with tight skin who hasn’t been rutted by P. Diddy. It’ll be OK, Cam. There’s still work for senior citizens like yourself. If Disney ever needs to update the There Was an Old Woman Who Lived In a Shoe story, they know who to call.
