Steve Irwin’s daughter fills the vacancy

Crocodile Hunter Steve Irwin’s legacy is living on through his 8-year-old daughter, Bindi, who is currently shooting Bindi, The Jungle Girl, a 26-part wildlife documentary for the Discovery Kids network that is set to debut in January 2007:

“I’m trying to get across the message that don’t be afraid of animals, they’re just put on this earth to help the environment and everything like that,” Bindi tells ABC’s Australian Story in her first formal interview since her father’s death in September.

And Bindi will not be the only star of the show: Her late father will appear with her in scenes filmed before his death. “We’ll never refer to the fact that Steve is no longer with us,” says John Stainton, who was Steve’s manager. “The way that it works is that Steve plays co-star to Bindi. It’s just the little reactions that she gives to her Dad who’s, you know, doing sort of silly stuff.”

“Bindi the Jungle Girl is really lucky because she lives in a tree-house and she gets lots of animals in and out,” Bindi tells Australian Story of her character. “She hangs out with lots of wildlife. She just loves kissing a koala or hugging a snake.”

Very interesting. Steve Irwin “accidentally” gets murdered by a stingray and his “so-called” daughter “suddenly” becomes a huge TV star. How very “convenient.” And why am I using so many damn quotes when it’s clearly annoying the hell out of you? Because quotes indicate mystery and intrigue, that’s why. You’d know this if you were as well-versed in 20th century American literature like myself. And yes, The Hardy Boys is considered literature Mr. Acts Better Than Everyone.

Bindi is a freaky little scripted automaton. She scares me the same way ‘Chucky’ did/does! … and are the avaricious handlers who are allowing this ‘child’ to perpetuate the side show carnival act that was her father’s … ahhh … career?

    Ick

Save the beasties great and small …

  2. Her first show should be on the wonders of Sting Rays.

  3. Sandra

Whoa, give the girl space to grieve we shouldnt be exploiting her so soon The family and friends need more than a gear to get used to being without Steve. This child will have difficulty copeing with life if you make a movie so soon I think its a bit sick.

  4. TG

This is not her first show. She is popular in australia.

  5. Web Truth

This is one seriously ugly child; that perhaps explains why her mother is pimping her out: She makes the animals look just lovely.

Take another look at the photo. Whose cuter: Bindi or the lizard?

    Obviously the lizard.

  6. Web Truth

O.k. maybe its not a lizard but a croc. But the the assertion still holds.

And Rachael, now that your e-mail address is published on the Web, your chances of getting a date have substantially improved; notwithstanding the croc likely outshines you as well.

  7. Bindi Irwin will rule the world.

Look closely at the photo above … doesn’t Bindi have the facial characteristice of someone with Down’s Syndrome?

This has to be one of the saddest kids in history. She has no dad, her best friends have four legs and fur. She exists to entertain us, and she is a instrument so self absorbed companies can rack in their money. Because she is young, she doesn’t know about her life. Her mother NEVER has a clue what’s she’s doing. All these so called great things she’s done has just been media exposure. Did we mention that the whole of Australia is giving her harrasment with different stories and views. To be honest I had never heard of her, until steve irwin’s death. Since then she has been harrased non stop. This is sicking cruel and selfish for people to do this to a kid however annoying she is.

Bindi Irwin is a little demon-i mean check out that grin and her weird alien eyes-i dont car shes a kid shes one uglyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy kid who looks like her uglyyyyyyyyyyyyy father-and besides shes as irritating as a gremlin-she looks like one-in a jockstrap-

  12. SLP

She may have Down’s syndrome as the earlier email suggests…I’m not sure, but her facial features, mongoloid like, suggest it.

  13. crystal

I THINK BINDI IS A CUTE LITTLE GIRL.AND FOR THOSE WHO THINK MAKING FUN OF HER. WELL YOU NEED HELP HOW SICK SHE’S A KID.WHATS WRONG DID THE OTHER KIDS MAKE FUN OF YOU IN SCOOL.

  14. crystal

SHE LOOKS LIKE SHE HAS DS. MY DAUGHTER HAS DS.AND SHE HAS THE SAME CHARACTERISTICES

  15. CC

Well she may become more a swan as she grows older. In fact, most ugly ducklings become beautiful adults.

  16. Anetka

Maybe Bindi looks “Mongolian” because Terry had it off with an Asian? If you dyed the little gremlin’s hair black, she’d pass for a Asian refugee, no problems.

  17. zach

You people need to quit making fun of her. she’s a kid. get a fucking life.

  18. Miss

I agree that she is indeed a homely child, however I feel bad for her. It does seem that her Dad was her best friend and now that he is gone, there is no one to look out for her best interests. We didn’t hear alot about her before he died, probably because he shielded her from it, somewhat. Now that he is gone, she has been “thrown to the media wolves”, so to speak…even though she (and Terri) may not realize it. Sad story, really…..
